Chariman's Message - January 2009
“The success of our economy has always depended not just on the size of our Gross Domestic Product, but on the reach of our prosperity; on our ability to extend opportunity to every willing heart - not out of charity, but because it is the surest route to our common good.”

National Day of Renewal and Reconciliation,
White House Blog
I, like all of us, rest still in this glorious moment.
I quote from our 44th Presidential Inaugural Speech,
We as a Council and Country can expect change in opportunity. Expect change, a change that brings prosperity to your family, your employees, and your community. We must reach beyond hope and muster up the courage to expect prosperity in an entirely different order.
We are all bound together thru a past definition. I welcome the mature leadership of renewal and reconciliation. We embark on a new journey that embraces our interests. We must remember what we have accomplished and work smart from this new mountaintop view. We will play a large part in building the infrastructure required to bring prosperity to our country and the world.
As a collective we have spent millions of man hours honing our craft. This is what we bring to America. This is what we represent as an organization. I welcome inspection and challenge each reader to visit our Council Districts to visualize our reach across the US.
I trust we are all in agreement with the idea of grand ambitions. WE CAN together expect big change and WE WILL as an organization support big plans.
I trust we all agree that we only need to accept the magnificent change that occurred 12:00pm, January 20th 2009, to recognize that our country is capable of the expanse of our imagination, purpose and courage. Please join me in not just congratulating President Barack Obama, but us, a transformed nation.
With humble expectations,
Karl Cureton

Karl Cureton, NMTC Chair
Our beginnings: In 1999 Virginia Governor Jim Gilmore announced that he "is working with the private sector to create the nation's first Minority Technology Council.
The Council will coordinate efforts with minority-owned technology business and existing regional technology councils across the state." Press Release.
This was the first government announcement of the Council. Shortly after our Council Founder and Chair, Karl Cureton,
was invited to speak as a panel guest for the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) on the Digital Divide.
The Council has worked over the years with both State and Federal Executives to develop parity for minority suppliers in the IT marketplace.
